Our 2023-2024 Charity Partner

We are thrilled to announce our 2023-2024 charity partner, Pay It Forward Charleston! Pay It Forward  began as a collaboration between farmers, restaurants, and community members who united in an effort to feed food and beverage workers during the COVID-19 crisis. Pay It Forward Charleston expanded its efforts to include grant-giving and now offers individual support to food and beverage industry workers in addition to food-based relief. Ongoing programming addresses individual and community needs in a timely and hospitable manner, supporting the people that make Charleston’s great food community possible. The chapter adopted AMOR Healing Kitchen as its 2021-2022 charity. This means part of our fundraising goes to the charity, and members look for every opportunity to volunteer and help out. 

AMOR Healing Kitchen:

• Provides nutritious, plant-based meals mad with love by teen volunteers for people facing critical health challenges 
• Uses food as a tool to aid in recovery from surgery and medical treatments while supporting the local economy
• Empowers teens by teaching them culinary and leadership skills
• Fulfills their mission while supporting local farmers, empowering teens, and bringing awareness to the connection between food and health
• Relies on the love and support of their donors and is built on a strong foundation of community volunteers

At the September 2022 business meeting, immediate past president Helen Mitternight and incoming president Amanee Neirouz presented a check from the chapter to AMOR Healing Kitchen.
